My art is based on the places and things I find beautiful in Ireland. Painting in oils /acyrlics, I am based in the west of Ireland but also paint alot in Donegal, Sligo and Kerry. I was selected as a prize winner for the National Gallery poster competition 1982 and appeared on Live @ Three in 1991 representing Connacht.

Gerard O'Grady
Rather than be drawn to a particular theme, what motivates Gerard is striking colour, light and dark, and the effect of light on colour.
After a lifetime's interest in art, he commenced painting seriously in the late nineties and went full time in 2004 and clients range from private individuals to public bodies.
Limerick born, Gerard has lived most of his adult life in Dublin, and studied art at the college of art, Limerick, and the colleges of art at both Thomas Street and Dun Laoghaire.
Originally drawn to portrait painting, he has developed a love of both Marine and Still Life painting and has recently been fascinated with the concept of Evolution which has led him into the world of Abstract painting.
Gerard exhibits most Sundays on Merrion Square, and exhibits at both the Spring and Autumn "Art Ireland "shows at the RDS, Ballsbridge. He exhibited in Barcelona in 2006 and by invitation to various exhibitions in Ireland. He is also represented by galleries in Listowel and Ennis. Gerards work has also featured in the Autumn 2006 and Autumn 2007 listings of the Irish Arts Review
